Our appointment was soon set and we quickly saw Dr. C once we arrived. I began to explain the symptoms and his first inclination was the dreaded flu! Great. But he had to conduct an official test to see for certain. Five minutes later, the nurse entered the room with a swab (as long as my arm!) that needed to go all the way up his tiny nose. Holding him close to restrict his movement, I braced myself. Up the swab went........basically touching his brain.....and out it came. He flinched and cried, but overall was such a big boy!
Then we waited......
and with the creak of the door, the affirmation was written all over his face. Flu, type B.
But this story doesn't end there....
After a stop at the pharmacy with a preventive, VERY expensive prescription for little brother (children under 2 are high risk), we got home with instructions to rest, and drink lots of fluids. Snuggling was optional, but in my home, it's mandatory. So, snuggling we did:)
All was well, and I thought, "Ok, I can handle this, as long as Luke cooperates and stays healthy."
One hour later. Luke vomited.
I wasn't sure if he was getting sick, or it was a side effect of the preventive medicine. So, off to the bathtub we went, to clean up. We soaped off and scrubbed down. He seemed like he was feeling fine, but I wasn't taking any chances.
However, in the instant I turned my back to get a towel...he went #2 in the tub.
That's when I just about lost it. I felt, in that instant, like a little girl that just needed her momma! I was sleep deprived and covered in puke. But I couldn't completely lose it, I had two baby boys that needed me. So, I carried on.
But just for clarification (in case you missed it) there was flu, vomit, and #2 in the tub -- all in one day.
It was one of those days that your Momma warns you about........she said there'd be days like these. But, the truth be told, I still wouldn't trade them for the world. Yet, I do prefer healthy, happy, rambunctious, smiling little boys.

I feel like I could be the author of this post! This is the order of my last Thursday:
1. Matt is bed ridden due to flu.
2. I get a flat tire (with no hubby to help)
3. I put Luke down for a nap and took Zoe with me to get my tire fixed... feeling thankful that me and the kids are feeling okay.
4. Get home. Bathe kids. Get them ready for bed..... yep, ZK complains that her body hurts. Oh great!
5. Zoe wakes in the middle of the night with a cough and fever. Then, a few hours later, Luke has it too....
It's been almost a week and everyone is better (and, I'm still flu free!)
I sure hope your "days like these" go as smoothly as ours did. Praying for y'all on your flu adventure!
Oh, Brittany...I hate this for them (and you). I hope they are on the mend and doing better today. They are lucky to have you for a mom!
Oh no!! I'm so sorry! I hope they are all better soon!
Just found your blog from another - I have been the one sick at my house and can find nothing else to entertain me except blog stalking! haha The worst part about Mommy being sick is that I am DYING to hold my baby boy. Tomorrow will be 2 days without fever and I am getting my hands on him.
I hope your house feels better soon!
Makes me sad for the little guys!! Hope they are feeling better and you have managed to get some rest:) Love you!
