Mommy or Daddy?

I thought it would be neat to see who Luke favors more as a baby - Mommy or Daddy?

As I sang praises today during church, I became choked up thinking about HIS sacrifice for me and the blessings He has given me in my life.

Bath Buddies

Layton and Luke became "Bath Buddies" this week for the first time.

I think Luke was a little scared at first (see pic above!), but he quickly realized that Layton wouldn't splash him. He actually did a great job at helped me wash and rinse him off!! I think Luke loved it! :)

My little brothers were my bath buddies when I was little...you know, when we were very little. We were always singing songs, splashing and playing with our tub toys. It was good quality time together. Can't wait until Luke can sit up and really enjoy the fun! :)

Three Months

Somebody has grown!
Today, you are THREE months old! How can that be when it seems like we just laid eyes on your beautiful face? Oh, how our hearts have grown since you arrived.

This is such a sweet age, you are changing daily. I love to see the new things you are doing, and it's just as exciting the second time around. I just might be soaking up all of your milestones more...only because I know how special it is, and how quickly it passes!

Luke,

You are approximately 16.5 lbs, 26 inches..both 95th percentile (measured by Mommy's amateur weighing method at home, we won't know your exact weight/height until your 4 month check-up). But let's just say you are very HAPPY & HEALTHY! No problems in the chubby cheek department.

You are wearing size 6 months in clothing (but the onesie in your picture is size 12 month!), and 2/3's in diapers.

You are great sleeper! Lately, you have been going to bed around 6 p.m., waking at 10 p.m, 5 am, and then 8 a.m. Throughout the day you are usually up for 2 hours, asleep for 2 hours. But lately you've been "cat napping" more and more.

You giggled for the first time this month, at your Mimi. (who also got your first smile! You love her!) It is so cute to hear you little laugh, it melts my heart.

You took your first bath with your Bubby! It was so cute to see you boys take a bath together. Have I told you that you have never once cried during a bath? Yep, it's true, even when you were itty bitty! You LOVE the water!! Now, when I get you out, that's a different story - not happy!
You enjoy rolling from side to side! You kick up those legs and over you go! You are not yet rolling from back to belly, but I can see it won't be long! (Edited: As I was typing this post on 4/14, you rolled over from back to belly!!!!!!!!!!)

You are getting a little spoiled. Lately, you start to whimper when Mommy lays you down, puts you in your swing or bouncy seat. You love to be held....all the time.

You found your hands! It was so cute to see your facial expression as you try to figure out what they are! And you are beginning to find things to chew/suck on...see below!
You were away from Mommy for the first time. It was a long 8 hours while she attended class. Mimi and your Great grandmother took good care of you. And you took your bottles great! :)

You love taking naps on Daddy's chest or in Mommy's arms. You are such a snuggler, always so warm and cozy!

You seem to be losing some of your hair, but it seems to be growing back just as fast? Your swirl is still there, too cute!

You have the cutest little dimple in your right cheek, I love giving it kisses.

We love you Lukey Bear, Happy 3 month Birthday!

Retreat

Trip to the lake with family + no obligations =
lots of wonderful memories

This past week, my mom and dad met us at the lake house. I have always wanted to share this with them, but it never worked out. This time it did and I think they are SO glad that they came! Over and over, I heard them say, "Wow, this is so nice, I had no idea! It's really wonderful here!" Yes, Yes, it is!

We started out the weekend with a little fishing trip. Dad was so excited to share this experience with Layton. He even bought him his very own Lighting McQueen fishing pole! Needless to say, Layton was beside himself!! Within hours, Dad had taught Layton how to cast, which takes tons of coordination. He was great at it. Very intense.
And YES he fished in his COWBOY boots!!!

He also taught him how to bait the hook. It was fascinating, he was intrigued by the wiggly worms! I am so glad that he is ALL BOY! I wouldn't have it any other way!
The weekend was really all about taking time away. Away from the 'hustle and bustle' of life, no one had to rush to be anywhere, it was truly laid back quality time. Reminds me of simpler times in simpler days. We all just enjoyed being together...

The weather was P.E.R.F.E.C.T!

I love how the beautiful sunshine glisten off of the water.
We skipped rocks

And took naps (everyone did, not just Luke!)

Dined at great restaurants and ate AMAZING food

Swam until our hearts content, which included jumping in the water a million times!

Got sweet kisses from little ones

This little girl, named Mary, came over to our table at Patti's and gave Layton a hug!! Her mom said, "She has been starring at him all night." So before they left they stopped by our table. She was adorable and wasn't shy at all! Oh, I guess it won't be the last time my boys catch the eye of a cute little girl!
We also took long walks and made memories like these

And we were all completely exhausted at the end of the day.....from being so relaxed!!

It was the our last weekend in this condo, it's being sold. It was a little sad. I remember bringing Layton when he was Luke's age. So it's bittersweet. But Blake's mom and dad bought a new lake house that has an amazing view of the beautiful sailboats docked at the marina. So, I know we will enjoy it just as much! ;) I hear the sunsets are breath taking.

It is the view from the new lake house...all I can say is amazing! :)
