Momma said there'd be days like these....

It all began on Sunday night. I was up until wee hours of the morning monitoring Layton's very high fever & cough.  I knew that when 8 a.m. rolled around, an appointment would need to be scheduled to see our pediatrician.  When Layton finally woke, he said that he couldn't walk because his legs were so sore.  My mommy voice began to panic slightly, but I held my composure enough to be brave.

Our appointment was soon set and we quickly saw Dr. C once we arrived.  I began to explain the symptoms and his first inclination was the dreaded flu!  Great.  But he had to conduct an official test to see for certain.  Five minutes later, the nurse entered the room with a swab (as long as my arm!) that needed to go all the way up his tiny nose.  Holding him close to restrict his movement, I braced myself.  Up the swab went........basically touching his brain.....and out it came. He flinched and cried, but overall was such a big boy!

Then we waited......

and with the creak of the door, the affirmation was written all over his face.  Flu, type B.

But this story doesn't end there....

After a stop at the pharmacy with a preventive, VERY expensive prescription for little brother (children under 2 are high risk), we got home with instructions to rest, and drink lots of fluids.  Snuggling was optional, but in my home, it's mandatory.  So, snuggling we did:)

I made a mad dash around the house, boiling and disinfecting everything.

All was well, and I thought, "Ok, I can handle this, as long as Luke cooperates and stays healthy."

One hour later.  Luke vomited.

I wasn't sure if he was getting sick, or it was a side effect of the preventive medicine. So, off to the bathtub we went, to clean up.  We soaped off and scrubbed down. He seemed like he was feeling fine, but I wasn't taking any chances.

However, in the instant I turned my back to get a towel...he went #2 in the tub.

That's when I just about lost it.  I felt, in that instant, like a little girl that just needed her momma!  I was sleep deprived and covered in puke.  But I couldn't completely lose it, I had two baby boys that needed me.  So, I carried on.

But just for clarification (in case you missed it) there was flu, vomit, and #2 in the tub -- all in one day.

It was one of those days that your Momma warns you about........she said there'd be days like these. But, the truth be told, I still wouldn't trade them for the world.  Yet, I do prefer healthy, happy, rambunctious, smiling little boys.

I remember when I was little, he used to do this with me and my little brothers.....so I love watching him do it again with my boys!

After the fun rides and squeals...everything got quiet in the house.  I looked around the corner and saw this...

Quiet play time.

And this...reading books in Pops' lap...

Barney & Cheerios

When I am trying to cook dinner, the boys seem to be at their *craziest*!

Everyone is a little cranky, hungry and ready for Daddy to come home (me included)!

So, lately, my new game plan is....Barney & Cheerios!

A little purple dinosaur and a little snack before dinner makes everyone a little happier:)

I think I laughed so much that night, my cheeks hurt.  Literally.

When we came home, Layton Blake opened his gifts and the celebration came to an end.
