6 Months {Halfway to ONE}

It seems like just yesterday we welcomed an adorable baby boy into our arms.  Can it really be that your babyhood is already half over?  

Luke,

My baby boy.  My sweet pea.  My Lukey Bear.  You are SIX months old, really?  Each night as I rock you to sleep, I try to memorize your beautiful face, each curve and each line.  I hope to etch your face, as it is right now, into my memory forever.  I sing and you slowly close your eyes holding on to my shirt or finger...you drift off into slumber and I say a prayer that you'll always know that God loves you and that he will protect you in the days ahead.  Whether you be six months, six years or sixty years old, trust that He will always be there to comfort and keep you. 

A look back...

A little about you at this age:
you weigh 20 lbs 8 oz!!! You are growing and growing WELL!

you are still exclusively nursing about every 3 hours.  You are sleeping through the night from 8 pm to 6:30 am, but still wake once to "snack" during the night around 2 or 2:30 am.  You also had your FIRST bite of solid food on your 6 month birthday! 

you wear size 3 diapers but are moving toward 4's FAST!  The 3's are putting indentions into your chunky legs....time to move up!  You are wearing 9 month and 9 -12 month clothes. (Although, I recently had to buy 24 month Gerber onesies!)

you are very laid back, but don't worry, you let your presence be known.  I love that about you.  Your personality reminds me of your Daddy....content, patient, somewhat quiet.....but then you definitely have something to say when you want!  :) 

take 3 naps a day (morning, afternoon, and a short evening catnap).  You "hmmmmm" when you are tired.  It is your cue that you need sleep!

you and your brother are interacting so much more!  You not only notice what he is doing, but think he is very funny!  Layton enjoys making your laugh by doing silly things like dancing, making faces or crazy noises!  It melts my heart to see how you boys love each other!

you BIGGEST milestone this month is SITTING UP, unassisted.  You sit up for the first time with no help at 5 1/2 months, but now you have mastered the skill!  Good job buddy! 

you roll over both ways with ease....rolling back and forth and around in circles!

you are happy to be held, carried or riding on Mommy's hip - ALL. DAY. LONG!  

love taking baths and are officially grown out of your baby bath tub.  You have joined your big brother in the BIG BOY bath!  It is so cute to see you boys together  - splashing away.

you want to stand up on someone's lap all the time.  Sometimes, I try to get you to sit down and because you are so strong, Mommy has a hard time doing so!  :)

you officially LOVE your exercauser and play for long periods of time, pulling, twirling, and bouncing. 

you don't have any teeth, but you love your pacifier and an occasionally finger or two, so I'm sure that a tooth is on its way soon!

your favorite toy is a caterpillar teething toy.  You play with it the mostly in the car.  Speaking of, you don't love riding in your car seat anymore.  You don't necessary cry, but you raise your head up to look around and you get frustrated you can't see out the window or see Layton sitting beside you.  I think that you are ready for a big boy car seat!  

you went swimming with big brother lots this month...you just hang out, swim (aka float) and take naps.  You are a little trooper!! No problems taking you anywhere, you "go with the flow"!

you love to blow raspberries....even while you are eating your veggies.  Yes, this makes for quite the mess!
