"Why is he wearing that shirt?"

Today was hat day at pre-school (& of course he chose his cowboy hat!)

plus.....

it was also Layton's day to bring Show & Tell!  He was so excited!!!

So, last night we were brainstorming about what to take to show his class; he said that someone brought a picture in from when they were a baby.  He wanted to do that too!
Layton's choice:
A picture with his Pops.

Off I went upstairs to find the *very few* pictures I actually have PRINTED, and we quickly saw these....

But Layton picked on this one....
Perfect.

Sweet, right. My heart was just about to burst.

THEN................

Layton said, "Why is Pops wearing that shirt? Did he go to the beach when I was born?"

I just about DIED laughing!!!!!!!!!! It was a joke the day that Layton was born....I asked my dad the same question!!! WHAT ARE YOU WEARING???? Now, my 4 year old son wanted to know the answer too!

I said, "Well, he thought it was a festive, fun day and his Hawaiian shirt was just the thing for the special occasion!"

With a huge smile on my face, I slipped the picture in his backpack and quickly got on the phone to tell my dad how much Layton loved him and his Jimmy Buffet shirt.

I love it and you see another example of how much Mommy and the way she thinks has rubbed off on her boy :)

I remember thinking that same thing when I got to the hospital that afternoon...thought maybe they had just made it there straight from the beach:) Funny that Layton picked up on it too!
