Living it up at...

the LAKE!

It's a tradition that most of our summer holidays are spent that the lake house with Blake's family. We look forward to getting together with everyone, which involves most of his aunts and uncles, cousins and even extended family too! It's like a reunion and I love every minute!

Layton found a turtle, he decided he would try to "catch" it with his fishing pole.
*No turtle were harmed in this picture!

and then he watched the sailboats come and go from the harbor.

The lake house is located in a "golf cart community", so you can travel to restaurants, shops, theater, and grocery by golf cart. However, most of the time, we just love riding it...for fun!

We took a break from the sun and went swimming at the indoor pool. It was quiet and much nicer than fighting the heat, especially with little ones.

Wow, how my priorities have changed. It wasn't long ago my main priority was tanning while at the pool...those days are definitely gone. Now, I am the mom lathering on the sunscreen!

Then, it was time for some BOATING,

and JUMPING,

and TUBING,

*This was Layton's first time to tube*

The weekend was filled with family and close friends, all who loved stealing snuggles from Lukey!

And our nights ended with baths for the babies,

and marshmallow roasts for the big boys, equipped with a singing duet!

Clay wanted to know if Layton knew any other songs besides "Bible Verse Songs"! I said, "No, he really doesn't!". He assured me that he would teach him some....great!

Cousins, who happen to be REALLY good friends!

and this little one, who smiled all weekend, reminded us that...

we were able to enjoy all of these things because of brave men and women who fought for our freedom! Thank you!

Happy Memorial Day!

I sometimes wish I had met Ross sooner and been able to marry into this family, instead of the one I'm in now...JK!!
Looks like a fabulous weekend at the lake!!

How fun!! We love the lake too! I only went a handful of times as a kid, but my own kids get lots of it all summer. We camp on the lake and take out our fish/ski boat quite often. Some friends have a pontoon boat that we enjoy also. When we first started, I was a little nervous about the kids swimming in the lake, but some good($$) life jackets later, I feel comfortable with it!

Loved your pictures!

Lesley,
I so agree with GOOD life jackets...they are WORTH EVERY PENNY! I have to admit, I hold my breath every time he jumps. Layton life jacket buckles between his legs, and that makes it EXTRA safe. But it is so much fun!! When I was growing up we went for a few years until my brothers became busy with baseball in the summer, we had such a good time. I'm glad my boys will learn to love the lake! Simply, it is WONDERFUL family time.

Looks like so much fun. I can't wait to go fishing with Brooks someday. Can't believe Luke is getting so big. Glad you had a good holiday!

Oh, how I love the pictures! I love spending time on the lake and love to go tubing. Years ago my husband's aunt and uncle had a cabin on Barren River, and we used to spend lots of time there during our high school and college Summer days. I loved it! It is still one of mine and Kyle's dream to have a lake house. For now, we just keep dreaming and saving! Your boys are precious! I agree, we need to get our kiddos together this summer. I am off every Friday, and maybe we could get all of our mutual friends together for a "Big" Playdate. Wouldn't that be wonderful!
